The Open Group Credentials

In this post, I’m going to explain about the new credentials announced by The Open Group. Firstly, there are two types of credentials, refreshed knowledge-based credential, and Specializations based credential. Secondly, both credentials have their respective study paths.

Introduction

Credentials are an addition to The Open Group Certification program for small learning (3 hours upwards). They lead to the award of an Open Badge. Credentials developed for different topic areas.

Initially, knowledge-based credentials developed. In the future, it will be possible to build certifications from related sets of credentials.

There are currently two credential types:

The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF®) Standard, a standard of The Open Group, is the open Enterprise Architecture standard used by the world’s leading organizations and maintained by the Open Group members.

In April 2018, the updated version of the TOGAF 9.2 standard introduced. Individuals who achieved TOGAF 9 Certification against either version 9 or 9.1 can update their knowledge to 9.2 with the TOGAF Essentials 2018 credential.

The path to achieve these credentials is to complete the Learning Units defined in the Conformance Requirements document and to obtain a pass result for the Indicator of Compliance.

The duration of this credential is indefinite – this credential is to a given version of the Body of Knowledge and does not expire, so there are no renewal requirements.
